The Manhattan Fire Protection District’s (MFPD) leadership is dedicated to providing a progressive fire department for the community through its staff’s personal and professional development. Our firefighters work with state-of-the-art apparatus and equipment which is supported by full-time and part-time staff members in EMS and Training. MFPD is an all-hazards ISO Class 1 fire department, responding to 2,700 calls to service annually to Manhattan, Peotone, and unincorporated Will County. The District is an active member of MABAS Division 19 and maintains several specialty teams which include Technical Rescues, Hazardous Materials, Swift Water Rescue, and Fire Investigation.
The District places a high degree of importance on the customer service it provides to both internal and external customers. Our firefighters also interact with the community by providing a variety of programs such as slip, trip, and fall education, fire and life safety education, car seat inspection, and providing CPR and Stop the Bleed instruction classes.
