The Board of Trustees (BOT) for the Manhattan Fire District consists of seven (7) appointed officials that direct the business activities of the taxing body and oversight of the Fire District’ s Administration. Each Board member must reside within the district’s boundaries and are appointed the Will County Board for a three – year term. The service area covers the Village of Manhattan, Village of Peotone, and Townships of Manhattan, Peotone, Jackson, and Wilton Center. BOT appointments terms are staggered to allow for continuity as the membership changes.

The Board serves as the district’ s policy – making body and is responsible for providing financial oversight and strategic policy direction. The Board is also active in the Fire District functions such as award ceremonies, promotional ceremonies, and many other community activities.

The BOT regularly scheduled meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month. Meetings are convened at 4 pm at the district’ s administrative headquarters.
